Description

Meristem culture technique is used to produce healthy propagation stock for crops and other plants. The resulting plantlets are often free of virus infections and parasites. It is one of the only ways known to rid vegetatively propagated plants of viruses. A meristem is a group of undifferentiated plant cells that can divide and form all types of tissues, similar to animal stem cells. This kit uses bits of meristematic tissue that are isolated and cultivated in a sterile, nutritious medium. This kit provides the necessary media and instructions for propagating small cauliflower plants from cauliflower curd in around 6-8 weeks. Once grown, the plantlets can be transplanted into seedling compost and grown on′. Additional supplies of growth medium and vials can be supplied to allow teachers and students to modify as they see fit. Designed specifically for A level students. Contains: 10 vials of media, 2 x 100ml meristem media, sterile loops, 10 peat discs, 10 plastic cups, paper discs and full instructions. Enough for 10 students/groups.
