The 1801 boasts rugged metal construction, metal focusing gear and student-proof locked-on components.

Bright sharp images are obtained using the DIN achromatic objective lenses and 0.65NA condenser, The quadruple nosepiece encourages some schools to add a 100x objective to the specification, however we would advise a magnification of no more than 600x, achieved with an optional 60x objective (not included), for this level of microscope.
