Shelf life is approximately 4-6 weeks when stored at room temperature below 25oC. Refrigerated storage is not recommended due to condensation causing a wet agar surface.

Can you provide more information about the ready prepared nutrient agar in Petri dishes?

These are ready-poured nutrient agar plates that allow culturing of microorganisms without preparation. They are suitable for a wide range of bacteria and fungi and are supplied as 10 aseptic plates in a plastic sleeve. Plates are 90mm in diameter with an approximate media fill volume of 18ml.

Having made my agar powder into solution it will not melt again at 50oC. How do I re-melt it?

Agar media solidifies at around 30-40oC but may not fully melt again until heated to 85-95oC due to hysteresis. Heat the solidified agar to this range until melted, then allow it to cool and maintain at 50oC, where it should remain liquid.
