Saccharomyces cerevisiae - Live fungal culture
Cultures are supplied labelled, on agar slopes in screw top vials.
All fungi cultures supplied have been selected for school use and checked for purity before dispatch by the producer. Although considered to be non-pathogenic, the possibility exists of mutation, accidental contamination, or over-sensitivity of an individual to a particular organism. It is therefore important that all cultures are viewed as being potentially dangerous and are handled and treated accordingly.

Respiration is both aerobic and anaerobic. the oxygen availability will dectate which sugars they can grow on. Growth is by budding, making them easy to study asexual reproduction in the laboratory.
