A simple to use UVC lamp, enclosed within an ergonomic handheld case, emitting ultraviolet light with a peak wavelength of 254nm. The lamp glass filters out light at 185nm wavelength, to prevent the formation of ozone.
This lamp can be used for a variety of purposes, including: Using with TLC plates which have a UV 254 indicator; Demonstrating the photoelectric effect with a gold leaf electroscope and zinc plate; UV fluorescence of certain geological minerals; Sterilisation/disinfection of surfaces and objects (such as keyboards, electronic devices, face masks etc. - a minimum of 20 seconds exposure is required) to kill 99.9% of bacteria and germs on exposed surfaces, without the need for chemicals.

The lamp is lightweight, housed in a tough plastic casing with a simple on/off switch, and is powered by 2 x AAA type batteries (not included). Dimensions 175 x 33mm. Weight 100g.

WARNING: Do not look directly into UV lights and do not to expose unprotected skin to shortwave UV light for more than a few seconds. The wearing of UV protective glasses is recommended when using any shortwave (UVC) lamps (e.g. SUV-100-100).
