Class A Glassware

Class A vs Class B Laboratory Glassware

Class A laboratory glassware is calibrated to narrower tolerances than the equivalent class B glassware, and therefore provides more accurate measurements. For instance, a class A 25 ml measuring cylinder has a tolerance of 0.2 ml, whereas a 25 ml class B cylinder has a tolerance of 0.5 ml. The tolerance varies depending on the capacity of the glassware. Class B glassware is suitable for all general laboratory work, but when higher accuracy is required (e.g. for A level or volumetric work), class A may be a better option.

Typically, glass burettes, measuring cylinders, pipettes and volumetric flasks will be available in both class A and class B options. Breckland Scientific offers class A and class B options for measuring cylinders, pipettes and volumetric flasks. If a class A option is required, but not listed by us, we should still be able to supply by special request.
